Please Go Back

Days just come and go,
Not a change in the status quo.
Survival is a daily plan,
Everyone becomes a burden.
The sun stands still in the sky,
As the canals run flat and dry.
The plantations just choke and die,
One more hungry child starts to cry.
The men have flown to the Capital,
The situation seems quite fatal.
Wild grass invades all the gardens,
No life in those naked mountains.
Port-au-Prince lives without a soul,
One more peasant without a role.
Just a stream of minds confused and lost,
Seeking hope, shelter in the dust.

The city's life is not going your way,
Without land you're nothing but a prey.
So this advice is yours to take,
Listen carefully for your own sake.
Please go back,
Back to the village.
Please go back,
Leave this filthy sewage.
You have a great role to play,
That is to plant seeds, I say.
Please go back,
Back to the drying fields.
Please go back,
Back to the roaring mills.
You are the strength of the country,
A true provider for the hungry.
Please go back,
Go back my brother.
Please go back,
Go back my sister...
